Bree hadn't really been up to much that day. It was her day off, and she didn't really have anything to do at all. She would go to the cafe, but she didn't have any money. Besides, Brent was there, and she'd probably just end up distracting him from work. Which wouldn't be fantastic. She would go to the pool, but she still hadn't unpacked because she'd been so lazy busy lately with the shop. Her costume was probably still at the bottom of her case. And she couldn't really be bothered to trail all the way back to her house and all the way back out again. Her house...it was just...so far away...
So she did the one thing that was within walking distance that she liked to do; Library trip. She hadn't visited the Honeytree Library yet, but she figured that it had to be a pretty good one. What with all the books she saw under people's arms here. They were good books too, all the classics that she loved to read. Sh could spend hours in a place like that. So she decided that that was what she was going to do with her free time. When she wasn't working, painting, messing with music, or chatting to her neighbors...she decided she would be there, lost in a book.
She entered the library, and was surprised, initially, by how large it was. It was bigger than what she was used to; her Library back at home was basically just a small room with about 20 shelves of books. They'd been good books, though, so who would she have been to complain? But this Library? There were masses of books. Everywhere she looked, there were books.
A small smile broke out on her face as she began to wander through the aisles and let her fingers gently graze the spines of the books. So many classics...Little Women...What Katy Did...Even a Jane Eyre. Bree internally happy danced. Jane Eyre was her favourite book! And they had it! She pulled the book out carefully, and sat on a nearby chair. She opened the first page, read the first few sentences, and was immediately lost in the beautiful works of Charlotte Bronte.

Don't get me wrong, he enjoyed reading. Enjoyed it quite a lot actually, he could get some of his best ideas from books. But there was an issue with the libary itself. It was too public, and too many people were able to see and approach him. But sometimes he could see past that, and sometimes he could find himself in the small café next door longing to be in there and seeing new people and new books. Those were his main attractions. He had met a nice librarian that was worth talking to, so the library held some hope up for him.
Silence from the doors above him was another addition. He didn't like it when someone knew he had entered a room. It meant that eyes were in his direction, and for a boy that prefered to be in the shadows than on a stage, that was a big deal to him. A dry smile smeared across his pale features as he walked through the library, looking over the shelves. Many of the books he had already read, and he recognised one or two of his illustrations on a book cover somewhere. The books were mostly about Honey Tree Town, and he had been the one to ask to draw the covers.
Felix picked up one of the books he had been working on and looked through it. He had never read it all, just flipped the pages to get a brief feel for what the face should look like. The inside page was full of dates written in red, meaning the book was fairly popular. He smiled at that. Those people had most likely been intrigued by the front cover, something he had written and had worked on. Something he had poured his blood sweart and incredibly cliché tears into. Finding somewhere to sit with the book was a task. Sitting with someone he didn't know wasn't something he was particularly interested in, but the large library seemed to be filled today. He didn't fancy checking the book out and walking home with it. He decided, instead, to bite the bullet and sit down somewhere to read. Sitting beisde a blonde woman, Felix propped the book down and began reading it. His thumb took a place in his mouth and he gnawed on some of the skin there. He had recently spotted it peeling, he had been working too hard for too long, and his fingers were taking the toll.[/style] |
