Two weeks and we caught on fire. Despite sitting on the grass, Lily actually wanted to get up and start dancing around. She had an instrumental track of one of her songs playing and she was casually singing along to it. She had sung it so many times that she didn’t need the lyrics any more. They’d got lodged within her brain and she’d managed to since on time perfectly at the moment. The upper half of her body was moving in time with the beat of the song as her voice sung out into the dusk of that evening. It was cold, hence why there were very little people around. The last person that was in the play park had left over half an hour ago and Lily had been alone ever since. Not that it mattered if anyone was here, she would still be able to sing. Though she kind of wished she’d brought her guitar along with her. The lyrics and the music sounded so much better when they played live together. She couldn’t do much about that though. The guitar was played by her; the drums and the bass guitar were played by two of her friends who were currently busy at the moment. So she’d settled for a recording of it instead.
She had considered making a flame large enough to keep her warm, but her jacket was doing that just fine for her anyway. If it got any colder, Lily would end up making one anyway. She was skilled enough to be able, so it wouldn’t drain her energy that much. However, instead of doing this she created a small flame on the end of her finger and started moving it around to make patterns in the air as she sang. Kind of like the way a child would twirl a sparkler to try and write their names in the air as quick as possible. The song ended quicker than she would’ve liked and Lily quickly turned her phone off before the next song came on. Her throat was beginning to get a little sore from all the singing she was doing. It wasn’t quiet, so it was the best thing to do in case she lost her voice. She willed the fire to stop, which it did almost instantly. Lily placed her phone back into her pocket and stood up, making her way over to the swings. They might be a bit too small for her, but she was hoping that she was small enough to fit into them anyway. There was the temptation to try to squeeze into one of the baby ones, but knowing Lily, she would most likely get stuck in it.
Suddenly, she felt a drop in temperature, which made a shiver go through Lily’s body. “Time to break out the fire.” She said to herself. Sitting on the swing wasn’t really the best idea for this job, but hopefully she’d be able to handle it. Creating a semi circle shape with her hands, Lily sat there, concentrating on getting a small spark to come to life near the base of her palms, practically squinting at her hands. Some seconds later, it arrived, followed by a bigger spark, then a bigger one which in turn, turned into a big enough call of flame. The heat made itself known pretty quickly, yet the flame itself didn’t scorch her at all. She opened her hands a bit more, willing the flame to extend out a little bit more. It did and Lily’s squinting turned into a grin. She was now warming up quite nicely. Though she’d forgotten about sitting on the swing. While she was concentrating on getting the ball of flame conjured up, Lily hadn’t realized she’d been leaning forwards. It wasn’t until she leaned back that she realized just how far forwards she was. With a jerk, she slipped off the swing and landed on the floor with a thud. “Oof.” The flame extinguished and Lily felt like the air had been punched out of her.
Lilly rolled over onto her back, just laying there, partially on the dirt and on the grass. “Hmm. Pretty sky today.” She said to no-one in particular.

This way he wouldn't start whining about just how freezing cold and shivery he was because he was more prepared for the crisp winter weather on this particular occasion than he usually was. However, although he had remembered that he would need to keep warm, Brent had forgotten that he also needed to see. Yes, he'd had gone and left his glasses somewhere around his flat. It wasn't the end of the world since Brent wasn't totally blind without them. Everything was far more blurry now which had meant that he'd almost fallen over about 83 million times already. Well, it had felt like it had been that many times. Brent had lost count by this point so was working on the assumption that his random guess was correct.
For no reason in particular, he'd fancied a trip to the park. Brent hadn't had an excuse to go there lately since his dog had turned into an human so now he guessed he'd just go by himself. It wasn't as if the place was going to be packed at this time of day. And he'd certainly been right about that... He thought. It was pretty hard to tell how many people were about in this light when everything was so blurry. However, he believed he saw something a little while away, something like fire. So he started to walk towards it; slowly to ensure he wasn't going to trip up.
But... then the light was gone again and he heard a soft thump followed by someone muttering something. And Brent had no idea what that had been. Now he was feeling kind of scared. He felt far more vulnerable than normal with his vision so drastically obscured. Which was what lead to him jumping out of his skin when his foot bumped into... an arm? Shit was there a dead body on the floor? Oh god. Ew. No. Asdfghjkl. Calm. Calm was good. He needed to check what was going on.
Squinting, Brent leant over the body and saw that it wasn't anybody's corpse. This woman looked pretty alive to him now that he'd had a closer look. "Woah... I thought you were dead." a grin slowly spread across the man's face as he realised everything was okay again, "I can't actually see properly right now." [/style] |

Two weeks and we caught on fire. Lily felt something tap on her arm and she nearly jumped out of her skin. Though, there was little reason for why that couldn’t have happened anyway. It was getting darker by the second and here she was; lying on the floor with little indication that she was there. Anyone could’ve walked into her. But surely they would’ve seen her there before walking straight into her? Unless their eyesight was terrible, they overlooked her or they simply didn’t notice her. Lily would’ve shrugged at this thought, but she was on the floor. Still. She heard the males voice say something and Lily laughed. Deciding it was the best idea at the time, she sat bolt upright so she hopefully wouldn’t get kicked again and looked up at the person who had. She very nearly smacked her head into his face, but managed to pull back just before. She then scrambled up, making sure not to hit the guy as she did so. “Nope. I don’t think I’m dead. Unless this is some weird afterlife.” She frowned slightly at this thought, but it quickly changed into a grin. “I don’t think that fall would’ve killed me either.” It hurt, yes, but there was no way it could’ve killed her.
“Can’t see?” Lily stared at him for a few seconds. Maybe he’d left his glasses at home? Or was it the impending darkness? She lifted her hands in front of her chest and focused for a couple of seconds. A glowing orb of fire popped into existence in between the two hands. While it wasn’t totally dark for the orb to have its full effect, it did brighten things up a little. Though the word ‘orb’ might be putting it a little weirdly. It was basically a ball of fire, but without the full on effect of it. Every so often a flame or two licked the air around them, but then went back into a smoothed out ball sort of shape. “That better? Or is it eyesight related?” She asked. Lily hoped it would help, even if it was just a little bit. It certainly helped her get a better view on what the male looked like. She could’ve easily seen what he looked like without the fire, but the light that came from it brightened the young mans features up quite a bit all the same. Dark hair and eyes, the male stood a few centimetres taller than Lily. Most people did anyway, by her standards, she was short. It ran in the family from what she’d seen anyway. “Anyway. I’m Lily. I would shake your hand but I don’t want to burn you with this.” She wasn’t sure if this guy had any powers of his own, so she wasn’t totally sure if it would have any effect on him. She didn’t want to burn the guy; she knew what that was like. She’d had enough of being burnt for one life time due to the amount of times she’d accidently burnt herself with her fire.
Deciding to test something out, Lily took a small step backwards, moving her hands away from the orb of fiery light. She kept her hands a little ways underneath it though, to make sure it didn’t disappear or drop anywhere. The orb hovered in the air and she grinned first the thing itself and then at the male. She always liked doing that, though it did take quite a bit of energy to be able to keep it hovering for long periods of time without her hands around it. If she took her hands away completely, then it would go even faster. She hadn’t completely mastered that aspect of it yet, despite having her powers for quite a number of years already. Lily was always finding out new things about her powers; how far she could take them, what she could do, how long she could hold certain flames before having to make them disappear. The brightness of the orb’s fire intensified with the happiness welling inside of her. “I’ve always liked fire. Despite it being dangerous and all, it can be quite pretty.” She mused, smiling gently at the thing she’d created. Lily reached out and touched it. The ball moulded itself into the head of a rose; the flames expanding and contracting to make it look like the petals were moving. It then moulded itself back into a simple ball again as Lily took her finger off it. She looked at the male and smiled at him again.

[atrb=border, 0, true][atrb=style, background: #FAFAFA; border-left: #fbb90f 2px dashed; border-right: #fbb90f 2px dashed; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 5px; padding-left: 5px; padding-bottom: 0px] Maybe I was naughty once but now I'm 'nice' Brent wasn't sure whether his vision was so bad that everything was going all weird and even more distorted than it had been in the first place or if the girl's head had jerked closer and almost hit him in the face. Either way, what mattered was that there hadn't actually been a collision so Brent needn't dwell on it. Oh, oh, and it had been her that had fallen and made the thump sound. It was all beginning to make sense now! Sort of. It would help if he could see, to be honest. "That's good then! I think I would've, like, freaked out and shit if you were dead." he nodded his head. Yup. 'Freaked out' was probably a bit of an understatement though.
He stood back up, squinting in the direction of the young woman. He saw that she'd produced a ball of fire, which was awesome, another fire sprite! Brent nodded his head at her in affirmation, "Left my glasses at home. Again. But that still helps." Brent rolled his eyes at himself but couldn't hold back a grin because of the nearby flames. It could be a lot worse, he supposed, what if he'd left his trousers at home? No, wait. That was kind of different. Brent thought that he would notice if he ever did that... he assumed so but you never knew with him. Anything was possible.
Brent shrugged his shoulders. "I don't think you'd do me much harm. I'm a fire sprite too, y'know. Oh, and, yeah, the name's Brent. Or any variation on the name. Variations are preferred, I think." he rambled on, glad to have met another sprite of his own kind. Fire sprites were the best type of sprite, hands down. Brent was totally not being biased at all in saying that. Nope.
Fascinated, Brent watched as Lily manipulated the glowing orb, his eyes staying trained on it. He saw that it changed slightly, but into what exactly the young man was unable to decipher due to his poor eyesight. Whatever it was, it looked as if it would be impressive if he could see what was going on. "That's pretty awesome." he grinned back at her, "I'd use my powers but I don't think that's gonna end well 'cause..." he waved a hand around in front of his eyes in his own way of getting across the fact that he wasn't able to view anything properly at the moment. Two weeks and we caught on fire. Lily bit down on her lip to suppress a smile. “I think I would’ve freaked out too. Being dead would be a heck of a surprise.” She wasn’t ready to die, not yet. She still had too much to do in life to before to go now. Too many things left unexplained that Lily still had to figure out, even if some things took a while. Though she didn’t think that she could die from falling off a swing. Unless she fell onto spikes or in acid or something like that. The chances of that however, were very minimal and Lily would’ve had to be a dumbass to go a swing that was hanging over a pit of acid. She shuddered at the thought. There were worse ways to die than getting yourself burnt alive by acid, but it was still a nasty thought and something she didn’t want to think about again. Though the whole thought of her being dead wasn’t really a happy topic to think of.
She quickly pushed the thoughts of death and dying out of her mind when she very nearly missed what the male was saying. Her eyebrows shot up as a grin spread across her face. “Again? You do this often?” Lily let out a small laugh. “Well it’s not everyday I get to meet someone who continuously leaves their glasses at home.” She dusted one side of her butt off with her free hand, making sure not to lose her concentration on the fire again. While she had control over it, her mind very well could wander and she’d end up setting something on fire again. Like always. “Tis good that it helps.” She said, bowing ever so slightly in his direction. Not that he could see it very well if at all. Lily placed her hand near the fire again, making sure it stayed within the orblike shape she had originally moulded it in. She let her eyes gaze into its depths and sighed a little. Fire really was a wonderful object; people didn’t give it enough credit.
Lily’s eyes snapped upwards as her entire face lit up. “Another fire sprite?” She whispered. She had only met three fire sprites in her entire life. Her brother, someone who had a bad temper in this town and now Brent. While she didn’t doubt there were other fire sprites in this town, she hadn’t met them. Or if she had, they hadn’t told her about their powers. Cue the excitement from Lily. “Ohmygosh I’m so glad I met you Brent! I’ve never really met another fire sprite outside of my family. There’s a butt load of questions I want to ask, but I know you might not be able to answer all them, but still…” If Lily didn’t seem excited before, that had definitely done it. She only stopped to breathe and her eyes were practically glittering with hope. She would’ve hugged the fudge out of him, but she didn’t want to get rid of the fire.
Okay, maybe she should’ve taken Brent’s lack of sight into consideration before making a rose out of the orb, but he seemed to get the gist of it all the same. Lily let out a small laugh and weaved the light around into a loop and brightened the intensity of it. She liked playing with fire. Just as long as she didn’t set anything on fire. “No glasses. Have you ever thought about contacts?” She let her finger continue to spin around in circles as the fire got faster and faster in the loop. She soon let it start moving outside the loop and weaved it around her head, being careful as to not let it touch her orangey coloured hair. It already looked like it was on fire, she didn’t need to add actual flames onto it. “Though you could always try. It’s not like I’d let you burn anything down since we’re both fire sprites and you could always cut yourself off.” She was edging to see what the male could do, but since he didn’t have very good sight at the moment, it was rather risky. It’s not like there was a water sprite around or anything that could put out the fire. But fire was practically their middle names, so they’d be able to control it to a certain extent.
