The day was barely waking up and Gareth was basking in warmth in his place at the field. He had been fumbling around with a new camera he had been playing with for a while and was contemplating making a couple of videos for his blog. He had done a few videos on solving puzzles like the Rubik's Cube with his voice over them, but people were yet to see his face. He knew that it could be risky but the people that read his blogs were the people that he liked and the people that he trusted. It couldn't do any harm for him to be seen by those people, surely.
Anyway, he had chosen his setting to be a part of his town that he didn't frequent too often. A large field, surrounding a little duck pond was a nice place to visit if you needed some time away from the hustle and bustle of the lazy town. He had to remind himself that he wanted to go here more often. With these thoughts walking through his mind he wandered along the long grass until he neared a bench. He sat down on it and pondered for a moment how awkward the camera angles were going to be. He shrugged it off though, he wasn't a professional, after all. He was sure that whoever took the time to look at his face and listen to him ramble on for a couple of minutes would understand that.
It was a little while later and Gary had the camera on. He wasn't a stranger to technology but heh ad been giving himself a couple of minutes to try and work over what it was he was going to say. Those couple of minutes had turned into a half hour and he had a vague script written down on his hand. He wasn't sure why he was so nervous about this, but he supposed that it would all work out in th end. Lifting his camera and pressing 'record' he pointed it at a couple of ducks that were battling it out over a piece of bread that someone must have tossed in for them. He cleared his throat. "Hello Gary fans!" He chirped, spinning his camera to face him, and then managing to drop it. "Oh.. Bugger." He hissed, leaning over and picking the camera up, quickly turning it off and checking for injuries. He was half glad that that had happened. 'Hello Gary fans!' was not the sort of greeting he wanted to give the people that were interested in him. "Should make for some interesting bloopers, at least.." He thought out loud, placing the camera beside him and thinking over some sort of new introduction.[/style] |

Alec wasn't a stranger to the duck pond and surrounding areas. In fact, she could be seen every other week or so, tossing some of her letfover bread. This was one of those days. Or well, started as one of those days and, because it was nice out, she decided to just wander. It was relaxing to move at her own pace, to look around, to let the sun shine down on her. Maybe she should do this more often. As she walked, her thoughts began to drift... And were brought back into focus after she heard a voice, a noise that sounded suspiciously like something that was dropped, and the voice continue. Someone had dropped something, nearby if the volume suggested anything. What was that? It didn't sound like a duck -- unless ducks learned English all of the sudden -- and she couldn't recall any time when people brought more than picnic bascits or bread. Brows furrowed slightly, she walked in the general direction of where she thought it was coming from, and came to a sudden stop when she saw a guy on a bench. He was messing with a video camera and, from how he mentioned bloopers, it seemed he was trying to record himself with little success. Amused and a little bit curious, she made her way over, taking off her glasses on the way. "Hey, you need any help?" she asked, trying desperately to not look like some creepey stalker. "I heard you drop that thing and thought you might want it." Way to give an unasked for clarification, Alec. Well, too late to take it back and it wasn't like she had sounded like she'd been watching him. It could have been a million times worse. At least she didn't have a weird nervous habit, because she would probably be doing it then. If he wanted help, he would have brought a friend, right? Maybe he didn't want help... oh great now she felt kind of stupid for walking over here. She fiddled with her glasses for a few moments before perching them on top of her head. Well, if she was going to help she probably would need free hands. "I could hold the camera while you talk... or something?"

He had been fumbling with his camera, trying to find a way to adjust the settings without setting everything to default on the daft thing. He knew he should have familiarised himself with the camera before he left his home that morning. At the voice, a very feminine voice at that, he placed the camera down in his lap and craned his neck to see who it was that had come to offer their help.
A dark skinned and dark haired woman was standing there, and she looked friendly enough. He smiled feebly, a little curious as to why someone would offer their help out of the blue, but he wasn't one to turn it down. She didn't look too dangerous. He did, however, know that even in a small and quaint little town like Honey Tree, there were dangers all over the place. More so with the powers of the people in the homely little town. He knew that not everyone was going to use their talents for good, but he also knew that not everyone even had powers. And considering there was no way to determine that without asking someone if they actually had any powers that was a variable that was left in the blue until decided later on. But, in spite of all of this, Gareth decided to put his paranoia aside and smiled brightly. "I would love some help," smiled the Air Sprite. "It's not every da that you meet someone so willing to help a stranger," said the dark haired man, with a few tones of caution laying beneath his words. He had always been told to be very wary of strangers. On line, in reality and wherever he went in life. He decided it would be a good idea to put his fears on hold and try to be a little more social. The continuous calls from his mother telling him to get out more were a big encourging shove behind all of that.
Holding the camera out to her, and smiling while he did so, he thought it might be a good idea to explain what it was that he was going to do. Hopefully she wasn't intending on doing anything incredibly artsy with the camera like some people were. "I'm er, hoping to get a video up for a blog. I was thinking of an introduction and stuff, but I suck at thinking those up. If you'd want to help with that I'd be very grateful," laughed the man. He didn't think she was going to be willing to help out to that extent. She was just a friendly stranger, after all. And as that thought passed through his mind, he blinked. "I'm Gary," he explained, rubbing the back of his head. He was known for forgetting to introduce himself.[/style] |

He seemed almost shocked to see someone standing by him, and it would have made her giggle if it didn’t look like she almost made him drop the camera again. She didn’t think the camera disserved being dropped again. She took his warning in stride, silently praising for the caution, and took the camera when he offered it. “I have to admit I’m not the best with these things but this one seems... simple enough.” Or, at least, there seemed to be only a few buttons and she figured that one of them had to be record. She figured it was the one with the red dot.
She backed up a few steps so that she’d get more than his face. “Introduction? Well you have been running the blog and have been communicating in some way. Just make it feel natural. The people who would be watching this and know how a little of how you talk. Don’t make it seemed forced.” She, personally, hated when people made videos and everything they said sounded like they were reading it off a script. Planning is good. But you’re communicating to other people, not robots.
“I’m Alec.” The introduction seemed a little late, but she did the same thing he did. Introductions never seemed to work in a logical order for her; it was usually conversation and then name. Good thing he remembered, or else she would have completely forgotten. Not knowing which button to press was beginning to bother her; quickly so he wouldn’t know she was tinkering, she pointed at the ground pressed the button she suspected and was rewarded with a red ‘recording’ light. Satisfied, she turned it off and pointed it back at him.
“Just make it sound like you’re reading something you posted,” she said, and hoped she wasn’t getting redundant. But, then, she supposed that this might be calming him down, because he seemed pretty nervous about this. It wasn’t as hard as he was apparently trying to make it. “Tell me when you’re ready.”

He liked that a person could still offer another person help without asking for something in return. Of course for all he knew this woman would be asking for something from him in return, and as long as it wasn'tanything too extreme he supposed he wasn't opposed to helping a nice person out. "Yeah. I wouldn't let myself buy anything I couldn't work. When I bought it I made the assistant let me take a picture of him so I knew what I was doing," breathed Gareth, a cool laugh escaping him. He always found it easy to talk to people, in reality or online, but he found it much harder to get to know people in reality.
The advice that was given to him was unexpected, but it was helpful. He knew there must have been something in his head telling him exactly what it was that she had just said to him, but it seemed to make more sense coming from someone else. Maybe it was because he was hoping that she would have had more sense than him, and maybe because someone else knew about what it was that he was going through that it made much more sense. " Yeah, you're right. Thanks." The Air Sprite smiled warmly.
More advice flowed from Alex, and his head nodded slowly. Everything seemed to make more sense when she said it, and he just smiled and understood what it was that she was telling him. Eventually, he knew that it was time to start talking, and soon the words were flowing. Gary knew to keep it short, and if they wanted to hear him more, he supposed he could make longer videos as time went on. Talking about himself and what he was interested in, Gary waved his hands a little and gestured around the park every now and then. Slowly, the video came to an end, but just before it did, Gary said something he didn't think he would be saying for a while. "Aaaand finally, I would just like to thank my super helpful camera woman, Alec. I met her.. Well, before this video was made. Without her I'd be filming ducks right now." Chuckled Gary, offering a wave to the woman holding his camera.[/style] |

He motioned for her to begin and she quickly hit the button. She watched him, proud that her advice was actually useful because he seemed so much more at ease with the entire process. He spoke calmly and enthusiastically and it was interesting to listen to him, even if his style of speech did tug some cord of familiarity. At several points she had to stop herself from laughing at some joke he made, partly because it would be odd to hear someone in the background laughing in a video and partly because the movement would have shaken the camera.
She was surprised at his message at the end, to say the least, and unable to stop herself she laughed. In movements she was sure would turn out quick and unfocused on camera, she turned the thing around (and probably got a blur of a duck) and pointed it at herself, waved, and fumbled around for the stop button. The red light went off and she almost did a little victory dance for being able to locate the button without looking.
She walked back to the bench and sat down next to him, offering the camera with a smile. "I didn't think you'd mention me," she said, still amused. "And you sounded great. See, once you stop over complicating things, it's easy." Hopefully he'd continue to do more videos; they were always fun to watch and they looked like they'd be a blast to make.
She sat a few minutes, relaxing, gazing at the ducks he joked about filming. Then again, he probably would have, since he wasn't the most proficient at holding the camera and pointing it at himself. Or maybe he'd still be sitting and trying to figure out what to say... Alec couldn't decide which seemed more accurate, but she was glad she'd come by when she had.
The familiarity still bugged her though, more than she thought it would. She tried to place it but couldn't and finally she couldn't take . "So what's this blog called?"

Different to the ones in the video they had just made, it seemed more genuine and he felt that it was. Even though he had just met this woman he was very thankful for the help that she had offered him. What he had said was true, he likely would have been still fumbling around with the camera and filming ducks. He took the camera from her, glad that it wasn't going to be a case of 'You gave your camera to a stranger? Thanks, bye!'. He tucked the camera into one of his pockets and told himself that he would be uploading that as soon as he got home. It was a decent enough blog and he was excited to let people see him. He had grown close to the people he hadn't met and was excited to be giving them something new.
"Thank you," said Gareth. "Sometimes I just need someone to tell me how simple something is. Otherwise that-" he gestured with a hand to the camera in his pocket. "Happens." Another laugh left his lips. He sounded a little false, but that was mostly because he felt a bit like this woman, as nice as she was, was going to judge him. It wasn't unheard of for someone to be nice one moment and then cruel the next.
"Huh?" Asked Gary, momentarily lost in his thoughts. He was brought back quickly when he realised what he had been asked. "Gary's Voice," he chuckled a little. "Original, right? I know. I just thought it might be a good idea to actually put some of my voice on a blog with that sort of title." The Air Sprite chuckled, looking to the woman beside him. "Why do you ask, wanna check it out?" His tone sounded teasingly doubtful.[/style] |
