The sound of lockers slamming, shoes stomping, people talking, it was all very familiar to Tessa. She was used to this, but usually she was participating. Sadly, her best friends were busy. Well, no, they were sick, but either way, Tessa had no one to chat with on the way to the cafeteria. She clutched the bills in her hand and grimaced at the idea of eating alone. She hated eating alone.
As Tessa entered the room full of people, she noticed a table with only a few people outside. She knew people were allowed to eat outside, but she'd never done so. Her friends didn't like eating outside too much, despite the face that one was an air sprite.
After paying for her food, Tessa took her tray outside. She found an empty table in the shade and took a seat. It was a pleasant day, and the junior wondered what had ever stopped her from eating a quiet lunch in solitude, outside in the warm sun, surrounded by grass. It was definitely nice out, and everything around her was her element. There were trees, flowers, and grass, the perfect atmosphere for an earth sprite such as Tessa.
So as Tessa picked at her mashed potatoes, she thought about how much homework she had, all her boy troubles, how she needed new gym sneakers as hers had holes all over, and all the other things teenage girls thought of. Tessa was so deep in thought, that she didn't realize a girl come over to her table and sit down.

The day had proven to be excruciatingly long and it wasn’t even over yet. She barely got any sleep last night, her car wouldn’t start, she left her homework in the dining room and the lectures today seemed to just drone on and on. At least now it was time for a much needed break coming in the form of lunch time. Bec made her way over to the sorry excuse for a cafeteria and made her way to through the line collecting her usual of a garden salad, water and apple. It was the only meal she could fathom eating compared to the fat and grease laden foods they served. She as usual forwent the salad dressing - it added unnecessary carbs and general unhealthiness to the meal.
Looking up from her tray she saw the vast body count that the caf held. She sighed thinking of how unpleasant it would be, how suffocating to have to sit next to the Neanderthals the school housed. She decided instead to give herself a break and head for the outside sitting area. She hated the out doors but figured she could use the fresh air if the migraine she felt coming on had anything to do with the rest of her day.
Rebecca sauntered her way through the doors and quickly scanned the outside tables finding none of them to her liking, they were either directly in the line of the sun or occupied with her classmates. She finally saw one right under a tree that could possibly suit her fines as its only occupant was a lowly junior she recognized in passing. She figured she couldn’t be too bad if ignored and made her way to the table taking a seat across from the girl and beginning to munch on a baby tomato.

[/style] Tessa decided to eat out in the cool afternoon air every day until her friends returned. It was refreshing to not have annoying chatter around her. Still, Tessa really felt like talking to someone. Why was it that no one was around? Maybe the junior just didn't look welcoming enough, she decided at first, but no. Tessa wasn't the popular girl, but she was most definitely popular. Around the junior students, at least.
As the sixteen year mulled over popularity, a pretty blonde girl sat down at her table. When Tessa took a closer look at her, she realized she was probably a senior After all, Tessa knew everyone in her grade, and the blonde looked to old to be a sophomore or younger. The girl also had a very... snobby look about her. Tessa couldn't think of any other word, though she wished she could. The senior was very rich, as she was very very expensive looking clothing, and her expression made Tessa feel as if she was beneath the girl. She really didn't like the aura around the girl, but Tessa wasn't one to judge by someone''s cover. Her mother used to tell her, "Meet by looks, judge by brains." She didn't really understand this at all, but the gist of it was that you meet someone and see only their cover, but once you've spoken to them, you judge them by their personality or intelligence, or whatever her mother meant.
"Hi. I'm Tessa," the earth sprite introduced herself and waited for a reply.

[/style][style=width: 463px; height:15; background: #1cd0f8; float: center;] template by tippy of caution.
