Daniel pulled himself out of the pool after swimming for about an hour. He would end up going back in, but at the moment he needed a short rest. Pushing his goggles up, grabbing his towel, he made his way over to one of the seats. Towelling his wet hair while making sure he could still see, Dan glanced around. There was a fair amount of people here. More than he had realized when he was in the pool. Letting out a small laugh at his mistake, he relaxed in the seat. He probably had red circles around his eyes from his goggles but he didn’t care about that now. Smoothing his hair from his face, Daniel looked around again. It quiet, despite how many people were here. There had been the occasional splash here and there from others, but he ignored them most of the time. He was here for himself, not for anyone else. If only we still had our own pool. I wouldn’t have to be here with these other people. He then thought. It was true. Back in Australia, they had their own pool. But after they’d moved to Honey Tree Town, they’d had to sell the house. Which meant Dan had to come to a public one instead. He didn’t mind it that much, but it would’ve been nicer if he could swim without any distractions.
Deciding it was better to get back in the pool before his memories enveloped him; Dan put the towel over the back of the seat he was sitting on. He would come and get it later when he got out. He would be in here for another few hours yet. He’d been slacking off his regime because of work, but Dan was determined to keep fit. Which is why he was pushing himself to swim as much as possible today in the time he had off. Looking towards the diving boards, he changed his mind and veered off in that direction instead. It had been a while since he’d been on one and he wouldn’t mind testing out his skills. Pushing his goggles over his eyes, he mulled over which one to go on. Walking along the second one, which was a relevant height to what he thought he could do, Dan was tempted to do a run. Stopping about mid way into the board, he took a step back before taking a run and diving off. Doing a near perfect dive apart from his feet slapping at the water, he had felt it was pretty good. Coming up to the surface, he took a deep breath of air, swimming over to the side of pool to catch his breath a little bit. When he had, he moved to the shallower end.
By the time he got there, his feet weren’t stinging quite as much as before. Hopping a little as Dan lifted his foot out of the water he saw a red patch had formed on his foot. “That’s going to leave a mark in the morning.” He mumbled to himself. Hopping backwards one more step, he felt himself collide with someone. “Sorry.” Dan automatically said, hopping forwards a few steps in the water.

In Bree's eyes, water was the most beautiful, calming thing in the entire world. That wasn't really surprising, considering the fact that she was a water sprite. But she loved water. Like, a lot. Exactly why she went down to the pool for a little while that day. She didn't have anything going on at the shop, so she'd decided to close early, and head straight for the pool.
When she arrived, she didn't really feel like swimming. But she thought she'd be okay in her normal clothes, just sitting on the edge mucking about with the water. She was sure whoever owned the place wouldn't mind, as long as she still paid the fee. Money was money, right? Didn't matter how it had been earned.
While she was on the way out to the pool, she began to think. She was thinking at every spare moment now. She thought about how she'd found he old friend, Brent, at the cafe the other day. What were the odds of that happening? Brent, who she hadn't seen in years, had ended up in exactly the same place as she had. She wasn't going to question what had happened, though. She liked having him here.
She was so deeply lost in thought that she had completely lost all sense of the direction she was walking in. She know vaguely that she was going to the pool, so she had to head in that direction. She slowly and dreamily trailed over to the poolside. But she wasn't looking where she was going at all. She felt the harsh knock as she knocked into someone, and her cheeks immediately flamed red.
"Sorry." she said, at the same time as the person whom she had knocked into. It was a man, she knew that much now. He had a slight Australian lilt to his voice. But why was he apologizing? Bree had just totally spaced out, been an idiot, and ended up colliding with some poor guy that she never even knew.
"No, no, you're fine."She mumbled, looking up at him. "That was my fault, uh...I wasn't really looking where I was going. Too lost in thought, I guess." This was why she barely ever thought; it was time consuming, and only caused problems.
She looked back at the ground, suddenly feeling like an idiot. She was just standing there. She could talk to the guy! But...what to say? Perhaps...perhaps her name?
"Well...uh...yeah. I'm...uh...Bree, by the way." she said, with a nod and a small, polite smile. "You got a name that you're willing to tell me?"

Daniel gave his foot one last rub and put it back down in the water. Hopefully it wouldn’t be that bad. He was hoping that there wasn’t a massive bruise there. He hated bruises on his feet. It was possibly one of the most awkward places to have them. He vaguely heard some sort of ‘sorry’ back from the person he’d bumped into but it didn’t register in his mind. Dan rubbed his forehead as he tried to get back into the swimming sort of mind. He would probably do a few more laps, dive a few more times to make sure his feet didn’t continue to slap against the water and then leave. At least he would be doing something. It was quite refreshing to be in the water again, even if it was tempted to change into some aquatic. It probably wasn’t the best idea since it might freak people out. But when did Daniel care about what other people thought? It would give him a bit of fun. He was just going to start wading back into the deeper water when he heard a voice behind him. It sounded like the voice before. Turning around, Daniels eyebrows raised in surprise. “It’s fine. You didn’t do anything. I’m not hurt anything.” He said possibly a little slower than he originally intended. Dan stood there for a few seconds, looking over the young girl, taking in her red cheeks.
“Dan.” He said, staring at her for a few seconds, his eyebrows furrowing a bit. “Isn’t Brie a type of cheese?” Dan then asked, his head titling ever so slightly to the left. He was pretty sure it was. Unless it was spelt differently. Though what type of person would name their child after a type of cheese, let alone spell it that way? He shook his head slightly, brushing away the thought. “Shouldn’t you be wearing a costume or something this close to the pool?” Just noticing she was in her regular clothes, his eyebrows furrowed deeper together. It seemed a little stupid to be this close to the pool with regular clothes on. Chlorine didn’t exactly work wonders on clothes. Plus it would probably stink them up until washed. He wasn’t exactly fully out of the water yet either, he was up to his knees in water at the moment. One wrong move and she could probably get wet.
ooc: I don’t apologise for the word play on the word ‘Bree’. XD I couldn’t help myself.

Bree just kept her eyes trained in on her black converse with sky blue laces. "Well, uh...that's good. You know, that you're not hurt or anything." Ugh, she felt so awkward just standing there. But she heard his name. Dan. Cool. It kind of suited him, with the slight Australian air to his voice. "Dan." she confirmed. "Cool. I'll remember. Or...try to...uh..."
She looked up at him when he made the cheese comment. Uh...wow. This guy seemed smart. He was pretty clever to have gotten that. No one except her older brother (who affectionately called her "Cheddar") had picked up on that before. Not even those girls who had tormented her at primary school. She couldn't help but grin a little bit, one slender eyebrow raised. "Uh...yeah, I guess it is. Spelled differently, though. I would never have forgiven my mother if she'd have spelled it the same." she said, chuckling slightly.
Well...maybe she should have been wearing a costume at the poolside...but nyeh, she didn't really care. She was pretty good with sorting out clothes that had been in a pool, being a water sprite and stuff. Besides, she didn't really care about getting wet. It wasn't like this was her best outfit either. Just jeans and a shirt. Surely it wouldn't matter if she got them a little bit wet.
"Well, I should be, but you know...just got here. Haven't really unpacked yet, I've been either too lazy or too busy." she said, with the tiniest roll of her shoulders. Like it didn't really matter. Which it didn't really. So she liked to come out and just play with the water from time to time. Sue her.

Dan felt his eyebrow rise a little bit at how awkward this girl was being. What was he going to do? Bite her head off? Not unless she annoyed him to no tomorrow would he do that. Even then he wouldn’t go that far. “I’m pretty sure I’m fine.” He said, rolling his eyes a little bit. Dan needed her to look up and stop being so awkward, it made the conversation very awkward if she didn’t. “Hey, I know I’m shirtless and I look kinda good, but there’s no need to look so awkward.” Dan said, grinning ever so slightly at the girl. Stupid comment yet again, but he was vaguely aware of how good he looked. Staying in shape certainly had its good points. Looking good was one, feeling healthy was another.
The female then looked at him after the cheese comment. Well that certainly got her attention. Then again, it wasn’t hard too. Making some sort of cheese joke always seemed to get a little bit of attention. Good or bad. Usually because they were so cheesy, they miffed people off. Occasionally people laughed at them, but he rarely told jokes to complete strangers. Dan smiled at her gently. “I guess I’ll always remember you as the cheese type.” He said, scratching his side. “I wouldn’t either, but thankfully for you, she didn’t.” He waded around in the knee high water for a bit to keep himself from awkwardly staring around. Despite the comments and the attitude he gave off, his communication skills weren’t all that great.
Dan then suppressed a sigh at Bree’s comment. “Well you never know what could happen. You could, I don’t know, get pushed in or accidently slip over and hurt yourself.” He said with a tiny hint of sarcasm in his tone. It wouldn’t help her clothes very much and would take a little while to dry out as well as the smell. Dan, of course, didn’t open his mouth to say such a thing because he assumed that she would know this. It was pretty obvious, if not common sense about it. “When you’ve decided to go get changed, just let me know. I might still be here when you get back.” He said, giving a small shrug as he waded further in and then back out.
ooc: I really need to cut the cheese jokes out. xD
