Personality:
Riley is shy. Very shy. In general, he talks only very little, unless he feels comfortable somewhere, but that rarely happens. Big groups of people make him feel unsecure and very self-conscious and so, he tried to avoid those. The boy is scared to make mistakes, but the more self-conscious he gets, the more likely he will become clumsy and make mistakes.
Riley is a dreamer. Most of the time, he's lost in his own thoughts. That's his way to escape reality, as reality for him is all but a fairytale. He also likes to write, preferably poetry, but no one except for his mother actually knows this. He's also quite a good cook, since his mother often works night shifts and he prepares his own meals. Another hobby of his is playing soccer, even though he's not very good at it. He quit doing that, though, because he was bullied not just in school, but during the sports too.
He's awkward around both the sexes and lately, he's started to wonder why he doesn't have a girlfriend, and even why he's never truly liked a girl before. He thinks it might happen when he'll grow a little older, but can't quite explain why he keeps staring at the boy with the raven hair during math class.
History:
Riley was born to single mom Dana Miller. Dana has always told her son his father died as a war hero in a far-off country, while in fact, he left her while she was still pregnant. All she wants is to give Riley a role model to look up to, and she feels she can't provide it to him herself.
Despite growing up with a single parent, Riley felt relatively happy. Elementary school went well, but by the time the boy reached secondary school, the bullying started and school became an absolute hell. Through the years, it got more severe; it happened more frequently that Riley got home with bruises on his body and he was 'sick' very often. His mother was suspicious, but also long unaware of what went down during school time. It wasn't until she got an anonymous call from someone who scolded her son, that she started to put two and two together. But Riley, introverted as he was, still didn't confess to how unhappy he truly was.
In an attempt to make her son's life more bearable, Dana made a drastic change. She decided to move, far away from where they lived, and she blamed it on having found a new job, that paid better than the one she had; she d always have trouble making ends meet and this was an offer she couldn't refuse. In fact, there was no job, but just a better future, perhaps for the both of them.
